Can underfloor heating be installed anywhere?
Not all floors can take this type of heating but many of them are suitable. Bathrooms lend themselves the best to underfloor heating for several reasons. The centre of the room is often left uncovered by fixings or furniture allowing the whole room to heat up evenly. And the floor covering used in wet rooms and shower rooms are perfect for underfloor heating. Ceramic tiles and stone spread the heat perfectly and are nice to walk on barefoot. Carpet, on the other hand, is not recommended with underfloor heating because it insulates against the rising heat stopping it from circulating upwards.
Using underfloor heating in the kitchen just needs a little forethought. It cannot be used beneath a fridge or freezer, for example, and placing the heat source below kitchen cabinets is not recommended. Cabinets and their contents sweat causing problems after a while.
Hallways suit underfloor heating. There is usually a large uncovered area and tiles or stone flooring work well in this space.
The best time to add this home improvement is when a new space is being created, such as an additional bathroom or en suite. If a room is having a complete refurbishment, underfloor heating can be added at this point too. As the floor needs to be removed to lay underfloor heating, the space needs to be cleared. If you want some guidance, contact a member of our team and we will talk you through the requirements. We pride ourselves on the quality of our work and our rates are highly competitive too.
